The hike is easy; not technical at all. It’s a bit rocky on the AT portion, but not steep and nothing crazy. The trek up doesn’t have much to look at. It’s bland. Like a chicken breast with no seasoning. Yet, it’s all worth it for the views at the Knob (and a hell of a photo op of the Knob itself).
We lucked out and had a totally perfect mid-August day, with barely any crowds. I’ve only done small chunks of the Appalachian Trail, but this is by far my favorite overlook.
The scene looks straight out of The Lion King. I wish I had a little kitten in my backpack so I could whip it out and hold it up all dramatic-like while I play Circle of Life on my portable speaker.
